Day 1, again: Blogging 100 days Challenge; New Moon (Gemini)

Image
So my last blogging challenge was interrupted by Covid, as I was an early Covid prepper (& irritated with those here who were in active and vocal denial, though I've gotten over that anger, which was my own maladaptive and non-compassionate response). I've been back, off and on, and off, but have mostly been engaged with and following my Spark plan, though I haven't always logged my food and my movement, lately. So I'm restarting this blogging challenge, with the New Moon, (Friday@1:39 EDT in loquacious Gemini. It almost happened by accident...I was reading an a sparkticle, and left a comment: FIVE FUN FITNESS GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR ('09) https://www.sparkpeople.com/ blog/blog.asp?post=5_fun_f itness_goals_for_the_new_year & here are my summer fitness goals: Re-up'ing my fitness GOALS here, even tho it's not Jan1): 1) Continue with training to do 'real' push-ups: 13 will be first goal, then age (58, which is how many I can do @ wall right n...

*Day 9**: 100 days blogging challenge: getting New's, and Old's

Image
*I say day 9, but I missed Sun, Mon, Tues, because I'd hurt my hand earlier Sunday, actually after I had typed out most of the below blog post, in a temporary document, but I hadn't gotten to post it on Sparkpeople. I wanted to have a more substantial post than the past-present-future of victories-blessings-goals, so without further explanation.... New Sun, New Sunday, New Moon (-ish), New Mo(o)day, New Week, New Mo(o)nth, New Year, New Decade (-ish); New Me (-ish) Reviewing my recent blogs: From '11 Mistakes Beginners Make in the First Month of Weight Loss', (https://www.sparkpeople.com/r esource/motivation_article s.asp?id=2224) The writer opens with: "the first month of a weight-loss journey is a mixed bag of hopes and questions, accomplishments and obstacles—and, of course, the occasional mistake" and I agree: 'develop [-i] lifelong healthy habits' is the goal. I was interested in this article because I've just finished my first month; I had ...

Day 8: 100 days blogging challenge: Happy Candlemas / Imbolc / Maslenitsa*

Image
3 Small Victories: Didn't binge; made headway cleaning, spinning 15 min 3 Blessings: Time to work on studio, everyone (relatively) healthy, A 3 Goals: Finish cleaning, read, weigh-in *Edited to add, per a comment that Maslenitsa is tied to Easter/Lent... It's true that in today's Slavic cultures, Maslenitsa is tied to Easter, per Catholic customs; however, many/most Catholic/Christian customs and beliefs are built upon the pagan/heathen folkways of the preceding 10,000 years, before Christianity. I believe that Maslenitsa is properly similar to pagan's Celtic celebration of Imbolc, and was subsumed as were many/most pagan traditions (for example, Easter is named for the Goddess Eostre/Ostara). Others, especially Poles (Polish people) also call what I call Maslenitsa, i.e. 'Slavic Imbolc': they call it Gromnica, or Bear Day. You can read more about Maslenitsa if you do a search about it, but I would recommend adding Maslenitsa Ukraine, otherwise you'll be t...

Day 7: 100 days blogging- no summary, but some erring: mindful cheating?

Image
End of first week and month...I should have some summary, which may happen tomorrow. In other news, I erred/"cheated: a couple of hours ago. I opted to do it, then my mind went away, and I just did my business without thinking or focusing on what I was doing. I was sensing the taste but not focusing on it. Once I noticed that I was in a mindless 'fugue state' even as I was stuffing my mouth without paying attention, I paid attention. It was kind of like an out-of-body experience, until I consciously decided to be present. The I was, but it faded in and out, very subtly. Anyone have that? 3 Small Victories 1) Didn't eat the whole bag 2) Made progress in basement cleaning 3) Made a sparkrecipe 3 Blessings 1) My sister farthest away 2) My sister away 3) My other sister in town Goas: Finish basement, Celbrate Maslentiza, Code Member Comments About This Blog Post v 3VEGGIES I can relate.
