The life of a 'snowbird'

 I live part-time in AZ and in MI. No inet in the rural spot I live in AZ, not even on my phone (mountains, etc.) so no Spark.

But back to MI, so back online, and now back to Spark, thru 2014, at least.

    I'm a bit late but still will respond to the comment about 'nice warm AZ'...
    HA! not in the summer...it's really hot! Usually at least 100 days over 100!

    I was supposed to leave at the end of April, but was doing a project outside, and had several bouts of heat exhaustion, so didn't finish until June, then left in July, finally, and took my time coming to MI, where my folks live.

    Staying thru the holidaze this year because dad's 80th birthday is in mid Dec.

 As a Ukrainian North American, the current situation of 1900+ troops on 3 fronts of Ukraine's borders is very frustrating and stressful. Also, the late February diet and exercise doldrums have hit, but I'm going to focus on moving (as stress release) and some other diet and exercise hacks to make forward progress on my goals, to -get past the February doldrums. Almond Macaro(o)ns

 Not exactly macaroons (which I think of as coconut) nor the recently trendy macarons (which are almond based, but more fussy?) these are more like the latter. Had an expired box of Solo almond paste, so needed to use it up...this recipe is from the back of the box, with 1 change: maraschino cherries are now cherries from canned cherry pie filling. Ingredients: 8 oz Solo Almond Paste 1 egg white 0.5 C sugar 5 oz Cherry Pie Filling (18 cherries) Direc tio ns: Preheat oven to 325F In food processor, break up almond paste, then process, add sugar & process, then add egg white and process for 2 min  (that basically seemed unnec...probly 20 sec was enough...but I followed the directions); Divide into 18 and roll balls (/pipe into stars) onto silicone-lined (silpat) sheet. Flatten & press thumb into it; place a cherry into each thumbprint, trying not to get much of the filling.
